Janet is a completely self taught artist and has been drawing and painting from a very young age, beginning with pencil progressing through to paint, finding oil to be her favourite medium. Her earlier work was painting portraits of pets and people, undertaking many commissions and exhibiting in regional art exhibitions. She now specialises in animals and birds. Most of her inspiration is gained living in a rural spot on the Staffordshire Cheshire border where a lot of the wildlife is shown in her work. Through her art and love of animals she has also been involved in raising money for animal charities. Working in oils she paints in a realistic style capturing the likeness and character of the subject with a touch of humour. Her current bird paintings retain her realistic style in a cheerful manner that will hopefully make people smile.
